Waze, the well-known navigation app (acquired by Google in 2013), has added a new function that allows drivers of electric vehicles (EVs) to discover relevant charging stations along their route by entering their car and plug type.

This new feature intends to address the issue of inconsistent, obsolete, or untrustworthy information on charging stations, which frequently causes EV drivers inconveniences.

Local Map Editors from the Waze Community will be able to examine and update the EV data on the Waze map in real-time, assuring the correctness and comprehensiveness of the information.

The new functionality will be made available globally in the coming weeks.

In November 2022, an updated version of Google Maps for Android and iPhone rolled out a similar option.

I personally do not drive (like at all) but can definitely see the usefulness of such initiatives.
