According to reports from TechCrunch and Bloomberg, Apple has started manufacturing the iPhone 14 in India.

Here are some key points:

  • Apple has manufactured iPhone series in India since 2017.
  • This is the first time Apple has moved some production from China to India in a short amount of time after the launch of a new, flagship iPhone.
  • JP Morgan analysts believe Apple will move 5% of global iPhone 14 production to India by Q4 2022 and further its manufacturing capacity in the country to produce 25% of all iPhones by 2025.
  • This is in line with other Big Tech companies’ supply chain strategies of partially moving production out of China to prevent backlogs (e.g. some of Google Pixel smartphones manufacturing potentially moving to India or Vietnam; Foxconn’s $20 billion semiconductor factory project in Gujarat, India).
